Research Activities

My research focuses on "movement ecology": I study the factors influencing animal movements and gene flow, with a particular emphasis on landscape composition and structure. I also study how landscape effects on dispersal movements influence population functioning and structure. You can find a more detailed description of my research projects here (although this description is now outdated - I will try to update it soon).

I have been working on different animal species, including roe deer, Florida scrub-jays, wall lizards, common toads, natterjack toads.

Roe deer (Capreolus capreolus)

Florida scrub-jay (Aphelocoma cœrulescens)

In this picture I am holding a roe deer, caught in a net. This roe deer will be fitted with a GPS collar that will allow to monitor its movements.

The first day I met Florida scrub-jays… I was surprised to see how easy it can be to approach them, compared to roe deer - provided you have some peanuts for them! This one just landed on my hand!
